Our Safeguarding Commitment

Every Child Has the Right to Be Safe, Respected and Treated with Dignity

At Grace-To-Inspire Child & Youth Development Foundation, we believe
that every child and young person has the right to grow, learn and
participate in a safe, supportive and respectful environment.

The safety, dignity and wellbeing of children and young people are at
the heart of everything we do.

We are committed to protecting children and young people from abuse,
neglect, exploitation, violence, discrimination and any form of harm,
whether physical, emotional, sexual or psychological.

Our Commitment

Our Responsibility to Children and Young People

Grace-To-Inspire Child & Youth Development Foundation is committed to:

  • Creating safe and inclusive environments where children and young people are respected, listened to and valued.
  • Promoting the rights, dignity and best interests of every child.
  • Taking reasonable steps to prevent abuse, exploitation, neglect and other forms of harm.
  • Ensuring that staff, volunteers, mentors, facilitators, partners and other representatives understand their responsibility to safeguard children.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional and ethical conduct when working with children and young people.
  • Taking safeguarding concerns seriously and responding to them appropriately and promptly.
  • Providing children with appropriate opportunities to express their views and concerns in a safe environment.
  • Protecting children’s privacy and handling their personal information responsibly.
  • Obtaining appropriate consent before using children’s photographs, videos, stories or personal information for communication, fundraising or publicity purposes.
  • Promoting safe participation in our educational programmes, workshops, mentorship activities, community outreach and online engagements.
  • Working with parents, caregivers, schools, communities and relevant authorities where appropriate to strengthen child protection.
  • Ensuring that our programmes consider the particular vulnerabilities of children affected by poverty, displacement, trauma, disability or other difficult circumstances.

Zero Tolerance

Our Zero-Tolerance Approach

We do not tolerate any form of abuse, exploitation, harassment,
discrimination or inappropriate behaviour towards children or young
people by anyone involved in our work.

Concerns involving a child will be treated seriously, respectfully and
with appropriate confidentiality. Where necessary, concerns will be
referred to the appropriate safeguarding, child-protection or statutory
authorities in accordance with applicable procedures and laws.

Children Have a Voice

Children Have a Voice

Safeguarding is not only about protecting children from harm. It is also
about creating environments where children feel heard, respected and
empowered.

We encourage children and young people participating in our programmes
to speak to a trusted adult when something makes them feel unsafe,
uncomfortable or worried.

Their voices matter.

Their experiences matter.

Their safety matters.

Shared Responsibility

Safeguarding Is Everyone’s Responsibility

Protecting children cannot be the responsibility of one person or one
department.

Every member of Grace-To-Inspire Child & Youth Development Foundation,
including staff, volunteers, mentors, facilitators, partners and
programme participants, has a role to play in creating a child-safe
environment.

We are committed to continually strengthening our safeguarding practices,
providing appropriate guidance and training, and reviewing our procedures
to ensure that child protection remains central to our work.

Our Promise

Our Promise

We will listen.

We will take concerns seriously.

We will act responsibly.

We will protect children’s dignity.

We will put children’s safety and best interests first.

At Grace-To-Inspire Child & Youth Development Foundation, we believe
that every child deserves more than the opportunity to learn.

Every child deserves to be safe.

Every child deserves to be heard.

Every child deserves to be respected.

Every child deserves the opportunity to thrive.
